Project Overview
The Serpentine Jarrahdale Recreation Centre is in the planning stages of an expansion project, which will include the addition of two new basketball courts alongside associated gender neutral change facilities and amenities for associated sporting clubs. There will also be additional car parking.
The Shire is undertaking the concept for the centre expansion and the Briggs Park overall masterplan.
Stakeholder engagement for all clubs and user groups started in March 2024. Environmental and site and feature survey work is being undertaken to inform the outcome of the expansion concept.
Various court expansion scenarios have been provided to Council for feedback. We are now looking at options for the addition of two new court facilities, ensuring current courts are bought up to current standards.
We are also looking at options for expansion of the gym area and additional gender inclusive facilities within the scope of the works.
Clubs and groups that use the facility and are being consulted include:
• YMCA WA
• Byford BMX Club
• Mundijong Centrals Junior Football Club
• Byford Bushrangers
• SJ Blues Cricket Club
• Armadale Community Playgroup
• Heritage Country Choir
• GKR Karate
