Kitty's Gorge

Why should I go?

Kitty’s Gorge is one of the most iconic trails within the Perth Hills, passing through a variety of “gorgeous” (see what we did there?) landscapes and making for the perfect day hike. Located in the Serpentine National Park, the trail follows the Serpentine River and Gooralong Brook.

What is on offer?

Wildflowers, waterfalls and woodlands are what this trail has to offer, and plenty of them. Stunning fungi can be spotted during the spring and autumn seasons, and you will also pass through granite outcrops and stop by several great photo opportunities.

What can I do while I’m visiting?

Jarrahdale is your oyster when you decide to take on Kitty’s Gorge. Just a short distance from the main townsite, you can visit the Old Post Office for a history lesson or enjoy the great views and food on offer at Jarrahdale Tavern.

Serpentine Falls

Why should I go?

The most beautiful natural attraction in the Peel region, Serpentine Falls is the ideal day trip. Okay, we might be a little biased, but why not come and judge for yourself? The trail is located within Serpentine National Park, and the Falls are the perfect opportunity to capture memorable photos and even go for a swim.

What is on offer?

There is an optional viewing platform which provides a good vantage point of the Falls, while you might also enjoy lunch with gas barbecues, tables and shaded areas. Visit the Falls in the spring months (particularly in September) to capture all its beauty in the middle of wildflower season.

What else can I do while I’m visiting?

From the car park you can also access the Baldwin’s Bluff and Kitty’s Gorge trail, two of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s more iconic locations.

Heads up! The Falls' beauty is well-known across the Peel and Perth regions, and there's a chance the area may be closed once it reaches full capacity in the swimming season. If you're planning a trip from far away, we suggest calling the Parks and Wildlife Mundaring Office on 9290 6100 to make sure you're not left high and dry. Beauty really is a gift and a curse!

Sullivan Rock to Mt Cooke

Why should I go?

A great option for an overnight trip, this 18.4km return walk on the Bibbulmun Track takes you to the highest point in the Darling Range, Mt Cooke. A campsite can be found at the base of the mountain.

What is on offer?

This is one of many short walks available on the famous Bibbulmun Track. Starting at Sullivan Rock, you will meander past creeks while making your way through stands of sheoak, banksia and jarrah trees. If you’re up for the challenge, make your way to the southern side of the peak of Mt Cooke and soak in the spectacular views.

What else can I do while I’m visiting?

If you’ve decided to camp the night, you can of course continue exploring the surrounds or leave your pack at the campsite before ascending to the peak. This a good overnight hike for families with children aged 8 years and above.
