Community Safety Month

Held in October every year, Community Safety Month is about improving the safety and wellbeing of our community. We're committed to empowering residents of SJ Shire to stay educated about the safety initiatives and resources available to them, and also stay connected to one another to help build a kind and resilient community.

As part of Community Safety Month, the Shire has a range of free events and activities for you to get involved in. From Neighbourhood Watch meetings and first aid courses to mental health workshops and community festivals, there's something for everyone! You'll also find some helpful tips about school zones, graffiti removal, anti-theft screws, and more!

WA Mental Health Week

The Shire also recognises WA Mental Health Awareness Week which is from Saturday 5 October to Saturday 12 October. During this week, and over the course of the month, there'll be some mental health-related activities to help support and boost your wellbeing.

Mental health refers to our emotional and psychological wellbeing and is just as important as our physical health. Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians report having a mental health condition? This means that it's likely that you or someone you know may need support at some point in their life. For more information, please visit the links below.
