Welcome to the Youth Skill Up Program
The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale is empowering young minds through the launch of our new Skill Up Program.
The program is aimed at providing young people between the ages of 12 and 24 with invaluable skills to prepare them for the workforce, the program will consist of eight separate courses run from February to September completely free of charge.

Job Searching Tips & Tricks - 5 September
This workshop aims to increase knowledge and understanding about:
- How and where to start your job search journey effectively.
- Discovering strategies to secure employment, especially in challenging times.
- Identifying areas of employment you might not have considered before.
- Understanding the role of digital profiles, expressions of interest, and job alerts in your job search.
- Obtaining insights into creating a resume that stands out and catches employers' attention.
- Connecting with a variety of free resources after the session to strengthen your path to success.
- Staying ahead in 2024 with information on new training opportunities to enhance your skills.

White Card Training - 24 August
Obtain your White Card so you can gain access to opportunities in the thriving construction industry.
This course aims to enhance awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others.

Tour of ALCOA's Mining Operations
and Career Opportunities - 26 September
The day will look a little like this:
- Bus leave Serpentine Jarrahdale offices
- Arrive at Myara location at Huntly mine
- Presentation in conference room about our operations, employment opportunities, talk to talent acquisition team and hiring manages.
- Morning tea provided.
- Tour of operations (mining and rehabilitation).
- Depart mine site and return to Shire offices.
Responsible Service of Alcohol Training - 3 October
Obtain your RSA and understand the responsibilities and legalities associated with alcohol service.
Participants are required to be between the ages of 18 and 24 to participate in this course.
