Byford Skate Park - Stage 2


Project Overview

Planning and development of the Byford Skate Park - Stage 2 project has begun.

The Shire is working alongside skate park experts Skate Sculpture to deliver a new and improved youth precinct for the people of Byford. 

Funded by the State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, the $800,000 Stage 2 project will see the skating surface extended with new skateable elements, seating and lighting introduced to the park.

Timeline

February 2023

The Shire held its first round of community consultation, with a high number of surveys and general feedback being received both online and at local workshop sessions held at the Byford Skate Park. 

March - April 2023

Original Concept Plans were developed following the feedback received during the initial round of community consultation. The Concept Plans reflected the feedback provided by local skaters and youth, including several elements identified during consultation.

May 2023

Concept Designs for Stage 2 of the Byford Skate Park were released to the public for a second round of community consultation. This included online consultation as well as another series of workshops held at the Skate Park.

June - July 2023

Detailed Design has commenced. Consultants Skate Sculpture will carry out the detailed design stage before presenting to Shire Officers.

August 2023

Detailed Design is expected to reach completion in August.

September 2023 - June 2024

A Revegetation Management Plan is being created by Shire Officers to accompany clearing permit applications.
