The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale has welcomed the Nationals WA announcement of $40.4 million to deliver a new netball facility at Keirnan Park.
In the announcement, the Nationals WA said the funding would deliver 15 new hard courts, including multi-use courts, a pavilion and changerooms as well as carparking, lighting and landscaping.

Shire President Rob Coales said that providing modern and contemporary sporting facilities was critical in supporting young people to participate in sport and recreation.
“It’s fantastic news that the Nationals WA has identified the benefits of investing in sport and recreation in the Shire, particularly for youth,” President Coales said.
“Our community deserves the best facilities to play netball and this funding commitment would allow us to deliver a modern netball facility at Keirnan Park.”
The Shire is now calling on WA Labor Party and the WA Liberal Party to commit funding towards netball in Serpentine Jarrahdale.
With the Federal election due in the coming months, the Shire is also calling on Federal Government funding towards sport and recreation.
“We also urge all major political parties and candidates contesting the Federal election to commit funding to sport and recreation projects in our rapidly growing Shire,” President Coales said.
“Our current facilities can’t keep up with demand, and this lack of capacity is only going to get worse.
“It’s critical that we provide the sporting and recreational facilities for our community so they can keep fit and healthy, particularly our young people.
“Investing in community sporting facilities will deliver lasting social and economic benefits for our community.”
