Kicking goals! Stage One of Keirnan Park Recreation Precinct moves forward

The first stage of the Keirnan Park Recreation Precinct in Mundijong has reached a significant milestone, after the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale Council awarded the construction tender of $25.7million for the project to CivCon Civil and Project Management.

The tender was awarded at last night’s Special Council Meeting, paving the way for construction on the community sporting hub, which will feature two community sporting ovals, cricket nets, and a pavilion including change facilities.

Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale President Rob Coales said he would like to thank everyone who had supported the project, including Member for Darling Range Hugh Jones MLA and Minister for Sport and Recreation, David Templeman MLA.

“Keirnan Park Recreation Precinct is a true partnership between our community, State Government, local developers and the Shire,” President Coales said.

“This is a Council decision that I’m extremely proud to be a part of, as it’s a major milestone for the project and for our community.

“We know that hundreds of Shire residents must travel out of SJ to play sport, and many miss out altogether due to our lack of modern facilities.

“Keirnan Park will become a new hub for community sport in SJ, setting our sports superstars of the future up for success.”

Keirnan Park Stage 1A has been made possible with $22 million State Government funding through the Department of Local Government, Sport, and Cultural Industries, $10.6 million from Developer Contributions and $2.6 million from the Shire.

Construction is scheduled to commence in April 2025. To learn more about the Keirnan Park Recreation Precinct, visit:  yoursaysj.sjshire.wa.gov.au/keirnanpark
