The fire at Whitby has been successfully contained and controlled thanks to the incredible efforts of emergency service volunteers from the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale Bush Fire Brigades and neighbouring local governments.
Our Community Engagement Director Brian Oliver visited the site and met with David Richer, Emergency Services Coordinator, to see where the fire had spread and thank staff and volunteers for their efforts.
They swiftly responded, limiting the impact to 28 hectares of land. Thank you to all the volunteer brigades involved, the State Operational Response Division and the Shire's Emergency Support Brigade.
A special shout-out goes to Rapid Relief Team Ltd (RRT) Australia for providing food and drinks to firefighters and volunteers throughout the day.
