The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale has welcomed the announcement that a re-elected Cook Labor Government will commit $5 million towards the planned Jarrahdale Trails Centre. Stage One of the Jarrahdale Trails Centre, estimated at $10 million, will include a visitor information centre, café, retail and public amenities.

The unique leaf-shaped building will be constructed in one of Western Australia’s most historic towns, positioning Jarrahdale as a globally recognised tourism destination. The Shire is now calling on the WA Liberal Party and WA National Party to commit to the project.

“It’s fantastic news that the Labor Party as identified the benefits of a trails centre in Jarrahdale, and committed $5 million to the project,” Shire President Rob Coales said.

“This project is essential to diversify the local economy, create jobs for local people and give local businesses a boost.”

With the Federal election due in the coming months, the Shire is also calling on Federal Government funding towards the Jarrahdale Trails Centre.

“We are calling on all major political parties and candidates contesting the Federal Government election to commit $5 million towards the Jarrahdale Trails Centre, which will generate significant economic and social benefits for the region, President Coales said.

“The construction of the trails centre will become a hub for locals and visitors alike, to get the best out of visiting the area, and will enhance the Shire’s liveability.”
