The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale is delighted to host a series of enriching events for NAIDOC Week 2024, running from 2 - 14 July.
This year’s theme, “Blak, Loud and Proud,” celebrates the resilient spirit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and invites all Australians to stand in solidarity, amplifying voices that have long been silenced.
These events aim to raise awareness and appreciation for Aboriginal culture, showcasing its enduring strength, vitality, and connection to the land.
Shire President, Rob Coales expressed his enthusiasm. “NAIDOC Week is a time for our community to come together and honour the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples."
This year’s theme, ‘Blak, Loud and Proud,’ encourages us to celebrate Indigenous identity and stand united in our commitment to justice and equality.
“I want to encourage everyone to join us in these events and foster a deeper understanding and respect for the cultural heritage that enriches our nation.”
"These events are not just celebrations; they are opportunities for all of us to learn, engage, and deepen our connection with our First Australians."
"By participating in NAIDOC Week, we acknowledge the past, celebrate the present, and commit to a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are fully valued and respected."
All events are open to the public, and we encourage everyone to attend. Bookings open Friday 21 June, for more information, please visit here.
