Shire President Rob Coales and CEO, Paul Martin, have had two productive days in Canberra at the National Growth Areas Alliance National Congress, meeting with key leaders and decision makers, including Senator Bridget McKenzie, Hon Darren Chester MP, Hon Matt Keogh MP Member for Burt and Senator Matt O'Sullivan.

Discussion focused on the Shire’s key advocacy projects leading into the 2025 State and Federal elections, including vital funding for safer local roads, improving community sporting infrastructure and unlocking housing opportunities in SJ.

They also heard from an impressive lineup of speakers, including the Mayor of Gosnells Terresa Lynes, Hon Darren Chester MP and Hon Kristy McBain MP, who shared valuable insights on growth, infrastructure, and planning in Outer Metropolitan Growth Areas.

Shire leaders will continue to advocate for the best possible outcomes for the SJ community, applying what has been learned in Canberra and ensuring SJ remains liveable into the future.
