Jarrahdale Cemetery, located opposite Kitty’s Gorge trail, now features new facilities designed to enhance the experience for Shire residents and visitors alike.

A recently completed project, jointly funded by the Shire and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, has introduced an accessible toilet block and a drinking fountain.

Minister for Local Government Hannah Beazley MLA paid a visit to the cemetery to find out more and was joined by Shire President Rob Coales and Member for Darling Range Hugh Jones MLA.

The upgrades also include newly designed, hand-drawn wayfinding signage.

This initiative responds to the growing number of visitors attracted to the Shire by Kitty’s Gorge, one of Western Australia’s top-rated trails.

Construction of the new facilities began in May 2024 and was completed in July 2024.

The Shire contributed $175,000 to the project, with an additional $35,000 provided by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

The Shire is actively working towards Trail Town accreditation for Jarrahdale. For more information, visit Your Say SJ Jarrahdale Trails
