The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale has welcomed the announcement that a -re-elected Cook Labor Government will commit $10 million towards the SJ Community Recreation Centre expansion and BMX track, both located within the Briggs Park Sporting Precinct.
The Briggs Park Sporting Precinct is the community hub for sport and recreation in the Shire and this funding commitment will support the delivery of contemporary sporting facilities, enhancing recreational, leisure, and community spaces.
Shire President Rob Coales welcomed the announcement, highlighting the long-term benefits of sport and recreation facilities for the community.
“It’s fantastic news that the Labor Party as identified the benefits investing in sport and recreation in the Shire to support our rapidly growing community,” President Coales said.
The Shire is now calling on the WA Liberal Party and WA National Party to commit funding for sport and recreation projects in the Shire.
With the Federal election due in the coming months, the Shire is also calling on Federal Government funding towards sport and recreation.
“We also urge all major political parties and candidates contesting the Federal election to commit funding to sport and recreation projects in the Shire,” President Coales said.
“It’s critical that we provide the sporting and recreational facilities for our community so they can keep fit and healthy.”
“Investing in community sporting facilities will deliver lasting social and economic benefits for our community.”
