Congratulations to Liny Salis who was recognised as a part of the Shire’s Volunteer Recognition Program for her hard work with the Byford Basketball Association. Liny received a $100 voucher to a restaurant of her choice located within the Shire.
We asked Liny a few questions about her experience volunteering:
How did you get involved volunteering for your group?
My youngest son started playing basketball last year and he just loves it. He has many new teammates so I was happy to help by volunteering a few hours a week while watching him play his new found sport.
How long have you been involved in volunteering?
Our family has been a part of Byford community for over 60years. I have been very lucky to raise three beautiful children here, while helping volunteer at multiple clubs. It has been great to watch them grow up just as much as our community has grown so fast in the last 25 years.
What makes your group special to you?
Byford Basketball Association is a great local sports association to be a part of, my son Ashton is very happy that he can play a local sport all year round.
Why would you recommend others to get involved in volunteering?
Volunteering is one of the easiest ways to give back to the community; also, it has been a great way to watch my boys grow up while being a part of a team. Thank you for nominating me, I do it for the kids.
