Volunteer Recognition Program Winner.
Josie Cudmore was recognised in July 2019 for her hard work for the Keysbrook Volunteer Bushfire Brigade.
Josie received a $100 voucher to a restaurant of her choice located within the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale.
We asked Josie a few questions about her experience volunteering:
How did you get involved in volunteering for your club/group?
As I was growing up, I watched my parents volunteering for different groups. It felt natural to put my hand up and volunteer. I joined the Keysbrook VBFB – which I help as treasurer (with three young boys at home, it’s a bit hard to go out and put a fire out right now) and as secretary for the Keysbrook Community Group which we formalised as a group nearly two years ago.
How long have you been involved in volunteering?
I have been volunteering with different groups since I was about 18 years old. (So that is half my life!)
What do you enjoy most about volunteering?
I enjoy helping. Being able to help organise events or something that can give back to the community.
What makes your club/ group special to you?
It gives me a sense of belonging to my community.
Why would you recommend others to get involved in volunteering?
It is nice to be involved and able to give back to your community. If everyone was to assist in their local club/ group with a few hours here and there, it just helps makes things happen. Plus it is very rewarding.
