Duncan Rae was recently recognised as a part of the Shire’s Volunteer Recognition Program for his hard work with the Falcons Basketball Club Byford. Duncan received a $50 voucher to a restaurant of his choice located within the Shire.
We asked Duncan a few questions about her experience volunteering:
How did you get involved in volunteering for you group?
My daughter started playing for the club and while watching Trevor (Club president) asked for volunteers to assist with the practice.
I thought it was a good way to be actively involved with my daughter and learn along the way.
How long have you been volunteering?
I have been involved with the club for around 2 years
What do you enjoy most about volunteering?
I really enjoy seeing the kids learn and achieve their goals. To be a small part of that is great.
What makes Byford Community Kindy so special to you?
I love the mix of people that we have and that we all come together to provide a positive experience for the kids
Also the enthusiasm that Trev & Murph have for the club and the game is infectious.
Why would you recommend others to get involved in volunteering?
Without volunteers all these clubs can't function. So get in and do your part so the kids have a great time and want to stay involved.
Plus seeing them all having a great time is very rewarding.
