Annette Stones was recognised as part of the Shire's Volunteer Recognition Program for her hard work with the Serpentine Jarrahdale Rugby League and Sporting Club. Annette received a $50 voucher to a restaurant of her choice located within the Shire.
We asked Annette a few questions about her experience volunteering:
How did you first get involved in volunteering for your club/group?
My partner is a founding member of the Serpentine Jarrahdale Rugby League and Sporting Club established in 2019. My son, Mitchell, plays for the club which encouraged me to contribute as well. My first positions in the club included treasurer and social media manager. This year I remain the social media manager while also pitching in across various other roles.
How long have you been involved in volunteering?
I have been involved in the Serpents club since last year. I am also a board member and P&C treasurer at Byford Primary School.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering?
Working together as a team and knowing I am doing something that benefits others.
What makes your club/group special to you?
It's a family environment. We look after each other and treat all club members as family.
Why would you recommend others to get involved in volunteering?
It's being able to give something back to the community, giving you a sense of personal achievement that you have helped out.
