Restoration efforts breathe new life into Darling Downs Equestrian Park

The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, together with the Darling Downs Residents Association (DDRA) and Landcare SJ, has led a significant restoration project at the Darling Downs Equestrian Park, transforming the space with over 600 new native bushes and trees.

This collaborative effort, supported by volunteers and the MetCONNX Alliance, marks a major step in revitalising the park after last summer’s harsh heat conditions.  While MetCONNX, working on the Byford Rail extension, provided practical support in the form of fertilisers, plant guards, and planning assistance, the lion’s share of preparation and execution was spearheaded by the Shire and local volunteers.

The outcome is a new vegetation corridor on the park’s eastern side, improving both safety and native habitats.

The park, an equestrian hub for many Shire residents, is now poised to offer an even more vibrant environment for riders and walkers alike.

To ensure the continued success of the project, the Shire will maintain the care of the new plants, including regular watering.

The Darling Downs Equestrian Park is used by many Shire residents, offering 70 acres of space for riding.  It is located at the end of Evening Peal Court, Darling Downs.
